Signature Program

Hardest Hit Fund/ Save the Dream Ohio

OHFA was one of 18 states to receive Hardest Hit Funds from the U.S. Department of Treasury at the height of the foreclosure crisis. We called the program Save the Dream Ohio and utilized the funds to bring delinquent mortgages current, make mortgage payments, reduce/eliminate principal balances and/or pay delinquent property taxes. In addition, we partnered with land banks in the state to demolish and green vacant properties.

Fairwood Commons

Columbus, OH

Fairwood Commons is a 54-unit, affordable senior housing community. It is Ohio’s first multifamily Passive House Institute U.S.-certified development. The design utilizes superior insulation and air tightness, combined with high-performance windows, and enhanced shading to reduce heating and cooling consumption and utility costs. Fairwood Commons received $8.95 million in housing tax credits from OHFA.

Adam & Amanda Mental Health Rehabilitation Center

Athens, OH

The Adam & Amanda Mental Health Rehabilitation Center is the only clinic in the state designed to give people being discharged from psychiatric hospitals more time in recovery before going home. The 16-bed facility is named for Adam Knapp and Amanda Baker, two young people from Ohio who killed themselves shortly after being released from hospitals. OHFA provided more than $200,000 toward the center’s construction.

Darrio & Tenesha

Toledo, OH

Darrio & Tanesha looked at too many houses to count, but when they walked in the home they purchased using OHFA’s Your Choice! Down Payment Assistance, the couple said they felt at home. DPA helped the couple with repairs they wanted to undertake like repairing walls and building a deck. “We see ourselves living here for the next 10 to 20 years, we love it that much.” Tanesha said.
